Good morning! I’m thankful to have electricity this morning and no tree through our house. A destructive and quick storm rolled through our area yesterday evening and boy, the damage around us is immense. It was pretty scary. One moment the skies were blue and the next, they were DARK. I went into the basement bathroom with my Kindle and stayed there for 30 minutes. I was scared it was going to be a tornado or something. We’ve gotten those around here lately.
We lost power for nearly 5 hours — the longest we’ve ever lost power for here (thank goodness). The crews were really working hard and I appreciate them getting our power back relatively quickly. We’re about to be in a heatwave (98+ degrees PLUS humidity) so having no AC would’ve been a real hot mess.

We went to a pottery workshop last weekend hosted by Talia of White Hearth Pottery. It was so much fun! I have had an interest in ceramic making for years and it’s nearly impossible to snag up classes in the area so this workshop was a nice treat. I made an oil cruet and some coasters. Aaron made a plant watering pitcher and a napkin holder. I can’t wait to receive the items! She’s going to glaze and fire them for us.
Warped Tour made a comeback in DC last weekend and I’m soooo sad I missed it. I was a pop punk girlie and all the bands that were at Warped Tour were ones I listened to. I heard they’re bringing it back again in 2026 so maybe I’ll go then.
Speaking of pop punk bands, I saw All Time Low in Philadelphia in 2009. I saw that they’re doing a North American tour this year and they’re coming to DC! The presale was on Monday and I got two amazing front center seats for Brandy and I. I can’t freaking wait!
I bought a new game on Steam called ‘Planet of Lana’ because it was on sale for $4.99 and it was SUCH a fun and immersive, beautiful game. You have a black cat companion that helps you out with the puzzles and it’s cute and wholesome. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a new game to play! It’s short (took me 8.5 hours) but really fun! They have a sequel coming out next year - yay!
Plane tickets and accommodations have been secured for Maui! I can’t wait for a week of relaxation later this year. I hope the long journey will be worth it.
Do you wash your curtains? I have a set of white linen curtains in our dining room/kitchen area and I just washed them for the first time in three years. They didn’t show dirt nor did they smell but I figured they could use a nice wash to get the dust off and brighten them up.
I’m off work today so my plans are to read, finish laundry, rehang the curtains, and find a new video game to play on my Steam Deck. I’m kind of leaning towards a supermarket simulator because I’ve oddly always wanted to be a cashier, LOL
Have a great weekend!
xx
