weekly wrap: vol 5
labubus, healthcare frustrations, and re-entry into daily life after vacation
After being away for two and a half weeks, I must say re-entry has been chaotic, but nice. It’s always nice to be back home after you’ve been gone for awhile, especially since coming home means being able to have my own space and a car!

I said last week that I had never heard of Labubus until I was in LA and I went from owning zero Labubus to now having three and trying to score some more. A trend hates to see me coming LOL - these are literally like this generation’s furbys and beanie babies.
Recently I had my annual with my PCP and several weeks later, I received a bill for $6.30. Typically annuals are covered 100% by insurance, but this particular item I was billed for wasn’t covered by insurance because supposedly you can’t talk about this during an annual exam?! Healthcare in America is so freaking whack. There are specific things you can and cannot talk about in annuals and if you do talk about them, EVEN IF THEY ARE ASKED BY THE DOCTOR, you get billed separately for it. In my case, she was asking about my mental health and apparently that’s a NO during annual exams? Logically, you would think that’s a normal topic, especially since she asked it. This complaint has nothing to do with the cost I was billed for; it has everything to do with principle and how outrageous this is. I should probably double-check every time any doctor asks me a question to make sure I won’t be billed separately for it.
My creamy mushroom chicken was updated this past week with new photos! This is one of my favorite recipes that I created for a brand years ago.
I’m going to visit Brandy next week! I’m excited to go on evening walks, eat lots of good food, see her cats, and have our afternoon chats on her screened in porch. So much bestie time and I can’t wait!
I started playing a new game on my Steam Deck called Overcooked 2. I know it has been around for awhile and everyone loves it for it’s chaos and high intensity competition. I love the concept of it (cooking/making food from recipes) but holy cow. It’s definitely not a relaxing game and I feel like I can’t get my bearings with it, especially being multiple chefs at once. I can see why it’s better to play with more people so you can divvy up the tasks. I may or may not keep playing…I’m already stuck on level 3 making sushi LOL
When I was at Dorothy’s a couple weeks ago, she had Kix and corn Chex cereal and I mixed them together in a bowl with whole milk and now it’s all I’m craving. I am on a huge cereal kick right now. I have Golden Grahams, Kix, and Oh’s in my shopping cart, lol
I’m currently working on several posts including what I read in May, a post on what I’ve recently bought, and a father’s day gift guide. Oof, lots of things coming at me fast!
It’s wild that May is nearly over. We’re almost halfway through the year. How are we doing?!
xx

Ooh can't wait to see what you read in May. I'm just finishing up my May Reads post right now and will post it momentarily!
